Many young Canadians either do not know what trade careers offer or what they entail. Sutherland-Schultz has taken an active role in developing our future workforce. We direct our efforts towards two leading programs.

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program
Over the years, Sutherland-Schultz has provided valuable work experience for students involved in Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP). Since 2007, we have served as host for Industrial Trades Night. Local students visited our facilities for a hands-on experience while talking to trades people about their career path. Sutherland-Schultz has also been an active employer at the Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship showcase, providing several activities and trades people at this annual event.

Skills Canada
Sutherland-Schultz invests in Skills Canada programs to develop the awareness of skilled trade as an option for today’s youth. Through Skills Canada Technological Skills Competitions, trade talent from secondary, post-secondary and apprenticeship programs from all areas of Canada come together to compete in an Olympic-style event. As a proud supporter, we hope these events generate interest and respect for this important career path.
